Pasulj Prebranac - the baked beans for Christmas Eve

Ingredients:
1/2 kg of tetovac beans (nearest equivalent would be butter beans)
300 g chopped onion
salt, paprika, oil, pepper to taste

Preparation:
The beans should be cooked for twenty minutes in one water, after which you drain the beans and start again with clean water. Then boil for another 35-40 minutes. Add some paprika and a little pepper when it's cooked, fry the onion in a little oil. In an ovenproof deep dish put a layer of beans, a layer of onion, another layer beans, another layer of onion, always ending with a layer of beans. Then pour enough of the second water, in which the beans had been boiled cooked, to cover the beans by about 4 to 5 cm. Leave this for a while and then put the dish in the oven. Bake for 40 minutes on 220o c. degrees. Let it cool and it is served cold.
